Bunnings has revamped its PowerPass trade loyalty scheme, launching PowerPass Pro Rewards with a tiered structure that rewards higher spenders with deeper discounts, fuel savings, store credits and Qantas Business Rewards points.

The West Australian reported the launch, with NZ Herald independently confirming programme details including named partner brands and tiered fuel discounts. The revamp has been in development for about a year and follows customer feedback that the existing scheme did not adequately reward long-term trade relationships.

The programme spans six tiers based on annual spend, from entry level (under $2,000 a year) up to a black tier for businesses spending more than $100,000 a year. Higher tiers unlock better fuel discounts, the NZ launch offers 10 cents to 15 cents off per litre through Mobil. The Australian fuel partner has not yet been confirmed. Members also earn pro rewards dollars redeemable as store credits, and can connect their account to Qantas Business Rewards to collect points on eligible purchases.

Partner deals form a substantial part of the offer. Confirmed inclusions are Xero (100 per cent off for the first six months), MYOB Solo (from $6 for 12 months) and Coates Hire for equipment. Matt Heinrich, Bunnings New Zealand Head of Trade, described the thinking behind the package: “For tradies, every dollar and every minute counts.”

The existing PowerPass already performs strongly in the loyalty space. A 2025 Honeycomb Strategy survey of more than 2,000 Australian consumers across 52 loyalty programmes ranked Bunnings PowerPass number one, ahead of Coles Plus, Wesfarmers OnePass and Woolworths Delivery Unlimited. That result is notable because PowerPass has no traditional points-earn mechanic, relying instead on trade pricing typically 5 to 10 per cent below retail, plus account management tools.

For Australian tradies with an ABN, the Pro Rewards upgrade adds genuine cash-equivalent value on top of existing trade pricing. Fuel is one of the biggest day-to-day costs for mobile tradespeople, and the business software deals could cut admin costs for sole traders and small firms. Bunnings has not announced an Australian launch date for all Pro Rewards features, so eligible PowerPass holders should watch for an email invitation to activate the Qantas points integration.
