Diversity Policy
Australian tradies are not one demographic. Our coverage and our masthead aim to reflect that.
Stories
We commit to:
- Reporting on women, First Nations, and migrant tradies as part of the everyday coverage, not as a special-interest beat.
- Quoting and naming voices from across the trades workforce — apprentices and trade veterans, employees and small business owners, metro and regional Australia.
- Choosing photography that reflects the actual diversity of Australian work sites.
Bylines
We commit to building a masthead that reflects the audience we serve. Hiring decisions favour journalists who can credibly report from across Australian trades — including journalists with prior trade backgrounds.
First Nations
Blue Collar News acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Australians and Traditional Custodians of the lands where we live, learn and work. We commit to:
- Following the AJA (Australian Journalists’ Association) and MEAA guidelines for reporting on First Nations communities.
- Seeking First Nations voices when reporting on stories that affect First Nations workers and communities.
- Naming, paying, and crediting First Nations contributors.
