How we use AI
Blue Collar News is an Australian trade news publication. We are open about how we work: AI is a core part of how we research, draft and produce our coverage, and it operates under human editorial oversight and a set of automated safeguards. This page explains exactly what that means.
What the AI does
We use AI to help research and draft much of our coverage from real, published sources, under human editorial oversight and automated accuracy and legal safeguards. Every story is built from sourced material, checked, and reviewed before it goes live.
What the AI does not do
- It does not invent quotes, statistics, people or events. Every article is built from real, published source material.
- It does not publish higher-risk material unattended. Stories that name individuals adversely, or that the system is unsure about, are held for human review.
- It does not override our editorial standards. The same Editorial Policy, Fact-Checking Policy and Corrections Policy apply to everything we publish.
Our journalist
Our reporting is written and edited by Sharl Els, the News Journalist at Blue Collar News and the named, accountable byline on our stories. Sharl uses AI tools to help scan sources, research and draft coverage, then reviews and edits every story under our editorial standards before it goes live. He is a real, verifiable person — his LinkedIn profile is linked from his author page.
Accuracy and accountability
We take responsibility for what we publish. Stories are sourced and screened before they go live, and we correct errors promptly and transparently when they are found. Blue Collar News is independently owned and operated in Australia, and the publisher holds final editorial responsibility.
If you spot a mistake, or have a concern about our standards or our use of AI, email hello@bluecollarnews.com.au. See our Corrections Policy for how we handle and label corrections.
