Queensland civil contractor BMD Constructions has been appointed to carry out early works on Brisbane Stadium at Victoria Park, the centrepiece venue for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The Games Independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority (GIICA) announced the contract on 21 July following a two-phase open market procurement process that drew 22 responses at prequalification stage.

Bulk earthworks, erosion and sediment controls, haul roads, stormwater drains, retaining walls, semi-permanent fencing and a logistics plaza are all in scope. Works start in August 2026 and are scheduled to wrap by mid-2027. Engineering consultancy GHD has been appointed as the design and technical advisory partner for the early works package, according to The Urban Developer.
